Thousands of Kenyans Receive Aid Provided by Nursing and Medical Students — June 21, 2011
Chamberlain College of Nursing and Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM), both part of DeVry Inc., responded to this call for action and established the Interprofessional Global Healthcare Project (IGHP), a joint initiative that enables nursing and medical students from each school to provide healthcare services and education to impoverished communities. Students and faculty recently conducted their first global project in Nairobi, Kenya.

Chamberlain College of Nursing Opens New Campus in Miramar, Fla.—May 23, 2011
Chamberlain College of Nursing is opening a new campus in Miramar, Fla. with classes beginning in July 2011. This expansion reinforces Chamberlain’s commitment to prepare additional nurses in the southern portion of the state in response to the growing demand for nurses. The Miramar campus is Chamberlain’s second location in Florida; Chamberlain’s Jacksonville campus opened in 2009.

Chamberlain College of Nursing to Host ‘Nurses’ Night at the Ballpark’ with St. Louis Cardinals—May 16, 2011
To celebrate the contributions of devoted nurses and nurse educators, Chamberlain College of Nursing is teaming up with the St. Louis Cardinals to host the third annual “Nurses’ Night at the Ballpark” at Busch Stadium on May 16. In honor of local nurses, Chamberlain College of Nursing student and St. Louis resident Deborah Stewart will throw the ceremonial first pitch of the game.

In celebration of National Nurses Week (May 6-12), Chamberlain College of Nursing is teaming up with Nursing Spectrum, a Gannett company, to host the second annual “Nurses’ Night at the Ballpark” with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on May 10. The evening is dedicated to recognizing Chicago area nurses and nurse educators for their commitment to continually improving patient care.

Chamberlain College of Nursing Honor Society to Become Newest Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau—May 3, 2011
The House of Delegates of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), has granted a charter to the Chamberlain College of Nursing Honor Society to become its 494th chapter. The global community of nurse leaders will formally induct the Chamberlain College of Nursing Honor Society as its Phi Pi chapter at a chartering ceremony in October 2011.

Chamberlain College of Nursing Appoints Dr. Diana Meeks-Sjostrom as Dean of Master of Science in Nursing Degree Program — April 26, 2011
Chamberlain College of Nursing has announced the appointment of Diana Meeks-Sjostrom, PhD, RN, MSN, CS, FNP-BC, ONC, as dean of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program. Prior to her appointment, Dr. Meeks-Sjostrom served as an associate professor at Chamberlain and was responsible for new program development and research initiatives.

Chamberlain College of Nursing is pleased to announce that its Arlington campus is now included in its grant of accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). This follows the September 2010 approval to include the campus in Chamberlain’s institutional accreditation from The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of College and Schools.

Expanding roles and technological advances in healthcare have increased the demand for nurses to be well-versed in informatics, which includes the use of healthcare information technology. In fact, the number of nurses taking the Informatics Nurse certification exam with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has more than doubled since 2005. To meet the need for advanced nursing education in this field, Chamberlain College of Nursing is launching its Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Informatics Specialty Track.

Accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education Awarded to Chamberlain College of Nursing — December 2, 2010
Chamberlain College of Nursing announced today that its Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program has been awarded accreditation status from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Chamberlain established its MSN degree program in May of 2009 in response to the growing demand for nursing professionals qualified to assume advanced roles in nursing education or nursing administration.

Chamberlain College of Nursing Jacksonville Campus Receives CCNE Accreditation—November 9, 2010
Chamberlain College of Nursing’s Jacksonville campus today announced that it has been awarded accreditation status from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). This follows the December 2009 approval to include the campus in Chamberlain’s institutional accreditation from The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of College and Schools. HLC is one of six regional agencies that accredit U.S. colleges and universities at the institutional level.

Chamberlain College of Nursing will hold a community reception and ceremony to officially dedicate its Chicago campus. The event will include remarks from DeVry Inc. President Daniel Hamburger, Chamberlain College of Nursing President Susan Groenwald, Chamberlain College of Nursing Chicago Campus Dean Dr. Patrick Robinson, and DeVry University’s Chicago Campus President Candace Goodwin. National League for Nursing Inducts Dr. Gail Baumlein to Board of Governors — October 2, 2010
Dr. Gail Baumlein, director and dean of MSN online degree programs at Chamberlain College of Nursing, was inducted to the National League for Nursing’s (NLN) Board of Governors during their 2010 Annual Education Summit, “Shaping History, Reforming Healthcare: The Power of Nursing Education,” on Oct. 2. Dr. Baumlein will have the privilege to serve as a governor at large for a three-year term.

Chamberlain College of Nursing has announced the appointment of Dr. Janice DeMasters, PhD, MSN, RN as dean of its St. Louis campus. In this role, DeMasters will oversee implementation of the curriculum, delivery of student services, growth and development of clinical partnerships, and management of the day-to-day operations of the St. Louis campus of the College.
